Meet Quin
One of our original experienced arborists at Ecologic Tree Service
Quin has been part of the Ecologic Tree Service story since he was 15, first joining the team during school holidays in 2008.
Growing up in Denmark, surrounded by the forests of the Great Southern, Quin's appreciation for trees began early.
After graduating from Denmark Agricultural College, he joined the business full time and went on to complete his Certificate III in Arboriculture.
Having recently returned to Ecologic Tree Service, Quin brings valuable experience, strong technical skills and a genuine passion for arboriculture to the team. He is particularly skilled in elevated work platform (EWP) operations and tree climbing, making him a valued member of the crew.
How long have you been working in the arboriculture industry?
“Seven years”
What made you want to become an arborist?
“When I was a child my dad used to work for an arborist and I used to go to jobs and watch. Ever since then I had always wanted to be an arborist. Also growing up in Denmark amongst the forest has contributed to my passion for trees”
Husqvarna or STIHL?
“This question really depends on what sort of saws. Battery equipment, Husky for sure but petrol saws specifically top handle saws Stihl”
What's your favourite part of the job?
“I think being amongst nature and the fact that every job is different. We also use a lot of problem solving in the arboriculture industry which I also enjoy. I couldn’t imagine being stuck in a office”
What's your favourite tree, and why?
This depends on if we are talking about my favourite tree to work on or my favourite tree in general.
My favourite tree to work on is probably a spotted gum (corymbia maculata) they usually have a nice form making it easier to work on.
My favourite tree generally speaking is a smooth barked apple (angophra costata) this tree has similarities to the spotted gum with its form but has a really nice coloured bark.
What are your three favourite things to do outside work?
“I enjoy walking along the beach with my partner and dog looking for cool shells, fishing and camping pretty much anything outdoors”
What's your all-time favourite meal?
“This is quite a hard question because I love food but I would probably have to go for a nice scotch fillet done medium rare with Dijon mustard on top”
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“I would like to go to Austria specifically a village called Tamsweg that’s where my heritage comes from”
What's one thing on your bucket list?
“I would like to go to the Yosemite national park to see the big California redwoods”
If you could have any other job in the world, what would it be?
“I would like to be a career firefighter”
